Upgrade to High Definition Television or Die

High Definition Television (HDTV) purchases are on the rise, however, things are about to get a little more interesting. We met with Ron Starsel, representative from the High Definition Enforcement Team (HDET), to ask him about the changes being made. "We are a new initiative founded earlier this year, funded by the US government. Basically, if you don't upgrade every one of your televisions by the end of next year, we come to your house and terminate you," Ron said.

Some may say that this is an invasion of our privacy, a blow to human rights or a disaster for the environment. Some are even calling it genocide. Ron didn't agree with that. "The White House has been pushing this initiative as part of the new No Person Left Behind Without a HDTV Act [NPLBWOAHDTVA]. It will really help push the economy in a good direction and will quickly and efficiently eliminate unpatriotic people. Having HDTV is patriotic, if you didn't know." When asked exactly when the 'cut off' date will be, Ron said, "HDET is looking into late next year, however, I would play it safe and get one this Christmas. If you can't afford it, put it on a credit card like a good American."

With so many television shows going High Def (street slang for High Definition) and the whole threat of being killed, now seems like a good time to upgrade. We asked Ron on behalf of the people that don't watch television if they needed to buy a HDTV. Ron looked at us sternly and said, "I think we already covered that."
