One of our correspondents has received word on the street that the game pogs and collecting pogs is cool again. We interviewed Lance Gerns, 2003 Pog Champion of Tampa Bay, Florida, for more information on what experts are calling a “regression fad” like New Wave music.

“All my friends turned their backs on pogs, but I kept going strong… look where I am now! Now that pogs are hip again, I’m like the most popular guy at school. I have kids come up to me out of nowhere and ask to see my slammer. Yeah, I don’t want to brag, but, my slammer is pretty rad. It’s based off my personal Dungeons and Dragons character, I had it custom made and fitted just for me. Ninjas wail on their guitar when I enter the room now, it’s pretty neat,” Lance told us.

Lance, through metaphors, mixed messages and a whole lot of winking seemed to be eluding to a newer, more underground version of the game called freestyle pogging. From what our investigators could gather, freestyle pogging uses normal pogs, but, adds a level of freestyling to it, like interpretive dance. Apparently, it’s really extreme too like freestyle walking.
